Americans what is the recipe for supreme French toast?

Keep it simple, just wisk up some eggs in a bowl, soak the bread until it is soggy - then fry in in a pan. For sweet french toast, add some cinnamin to the egg mixture and sugar or honey on the cooked toast. For savoury toast just add salt and pepper.Americans what is the recipe for supreme French toast?
Use Brioche or panettone bread. For the egg wash use 2 eggs for each cup of milk (called a royal). Add cinnamon, nutmeg, and orange juice. Dip, sear in butter and finish in 375 f oven for 6 min. For ultimate luxury, top with marscapone cheese flavored with orange zest and powdered sugar.Americans what is the recipe for supreme French toast?
Why ask an American? Surely French toast is from France - except it isn't. This is an English invention. - Best ask someone English. As far as I can remember it involves bread soaked in egg and then fried. What makes it supreme is normally the addition of cream.
im not from the US, but here's a really tasty one if you like peanut butter.

spread a layer of peanut butter on bread, stick it in some beaten eggs, then pan fry it....serve with golden syrup or condense milk.

we in England call it eggy bread and i have mine with marmite or bovril LUSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Felicity O is an idiot. Everyone knows the French have made the biggest contribution to world cuisine. Most chefs I have seen are French or have studied at culinary schools in France. A lot of the foods we eat were invented by the French.

bread

1 egg

milk

vanilla extract

cinnamon

and I mix some cinnamon and sugar together

I whisk the egg and milk together, then stir in the vanilla, and cinnamon. Then I heat some butter in a pan, let the bread soak for a few seconds in the milk/egg mixture cook both sides. Then when Im done sprinkle it with the cinnamon and sugar. Then put maple syrup on it. My brother says its really good. I dont really eat french toast I like to cook for other people.
Isn't french toast what some of us brits would just call ';Eggy Bread';?

Have your pan heated, and add at least 2 tablespoons of butter, per slice.

Dip both sides of the bread into the egg mixture.

Brown on both sides.

Add a pat of butter to each piece, and stack the slices, one on top of the other.

Use any syrup of your choice.

You may also sprinkle some powdered sugar on top, and any fresh fruit of your choice.

Most folks I know love Blueberries, bananas, and strawberries. I just like mine plain, without the extra sugar, or syrup, but hey, that's me. Happy eating!
I agree with everything Libby said, only I use Texas toast.. you know, those big slabs of bread. They fry up crispy on the outside, but incredibly soft and sweet on the inside. Yum.
