I make one that's pretty good.. if you can get Texas Toast (bread that's sliced really thick)m then thats best. If not, use two slices of plain old white bread for each piece. Mix softened cream cheese with about half the amount of jam (I use rapsberry), spread it on a slice thinly and top with other slice.
A mixture of 3 eggs, a cup of milk, 1/4 tsp. each of vanilla and cinnamon are what I use for a batter. soak the ';sandwiches'; in the mixture for about 30 secs, then place in a very hot buttered pan. About a minute and a half per side.
Nice and crisp outside and creamy and sweet inside. You don't need syrup for these. Maybe a little powdered sugar.Anyone Can tell me the best recipe for french toast with cheese?

Cheddar Cheese French Toast
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 cup cheddar cheese -- shredded
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 large eggs -- well beaten
12 slices bread
Over low heat, combine the cream, cheddar, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Stir until the cheese melts and the mixture is well blended. Remove from heat and cool to lukewarm. Generously butter a large baking sheet and set aside.
Cut the bread slices diagonally and dip each triangle into the cheddar mixture. Place 1/2-inch apart on the baking sheet and bake until browned and bubbly, about 15 minutes.
