I need ideas how to make a ';make ahead'; Cream cheese stuffed, baked French toast recipe.?

Any ideas? I was thinking spread cream cheese between 2 pieces of French bread, to cover bottom of 9x13'; pan, then cover with egg mixture, refrigerate and bake the next morning. Will this work?I need ideas how to make a ';make ahead'; Cream cheese stuffed, baked French toast recipe.?
1 loaf white bread, no crusts


1/2 loaf French bread


6 cups fresh blueberries or frozen blueberries, rinsed


8 ounces cream cheese


1/2 cup sour cream


1/2 cup sugar


1 teaspoon vanilla


7 eggs


1 1/2 cups milk


1 1/2 cups half-and-half


1/2 teaspoon cinnamon


1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg


1/2 cup powdered sugar

Cut white bread into cubes and place into the bottom of a greased 9x13 pan.


Sprinkle blueberries evenly over bread.


Microwave cream cheese in bowl for 2 minutes.


Stir carefully and add 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup sour cream, and 1 teaspoons vanilla.


Spread over blueberries.


Cut French bread into 10-1 inch thick slices, place over cream cheese.


Beat eggs, milk, half%26amp;half, cinnamon, and nutmeg and pour over bread.


Cover and refrigerate overnight.


Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes covered, then uncover for approximately 15 minutes.


Let set before slicing.


Sift powdered sugar over before serving.

I wouldn't let the french toast sit over night in an egg mixture, it will make the bread soggy.
Look that sounds like a great idea but it might be better to keep the egg mixture separately stored until bake time. It will likely soak into the bread so much overnight that the result will be kind of mushy. Also, thinly slice some ripe bananas and layer in with the cream cheese. And sprinkle some cinnamon on that casserole.
This will absolutely work!


It's an entirely different technique than stove top french toast (in which case it would be too soggy). Because you are baking it, the toast comes out very lite and fluffy -- it's devine! Definitely have some berries to serve with it.
