So I just found out that my husband has invited some people over for dinner tomorrow night. So I have come up with the idea of having breakfast for dinner, that way it won't take long for me to make it once I get home from work. I have about 2 hours to cook before they should get to my place tomorrow. So I am thinking about making french toast, but I am wanting to spice it up some. Does anyone have any good french toast recipes that can fill up about 5 grown people?Does anyone have any filling french toast recipes that have a kick of some kind?
Here is one you might want to try
Stuffed French Toast

3 cups 1% low-fat milk

1 cup half-and-half
1 cup sugar, divided
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 (8-ounce) block fat-free cream cheese, softened
1 (8-ounce) block 1/3-less-fat cream cheese, softened

Trim crusts from bread. Arrange half of the bread in a 13 x 9-inch baking dish coated with cooking spray.
Combine milk, 1 1/2 cups egg substitute, half-and-half, and 1/2 cup sugar in a large bowl, stirring with a whisk. Pour half of milk mixture over bread in dish.
Combine 1/2 cup egg substitute, 1/2 cup sugar, vanilla, nutmeg, and cheeses in a food processor or blender; process until smooth. Pour cream cheese mixture over moist bread in dish. Top with remaining bread; pour remaining milk mixture over bread. Cover and refrigerate 8 hours or overnight.

Uncover and bake at 350掳 for 55 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving. Sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar, if desired.Does anyone have any filling french toast recipes that have a kick of some kind?
Make the standard egg and milk dip for stale bread. After cooking french toast on one side, flip one piece over, add ham and brie cheese, cover with cooked side of second piece of toast and continue to cook until bread is cooked and cheese is melting a bit. Make a sauce using white grape juice concentrate, 1 can of water, about 1/2 lb. dried figs, quartered and about 1 tbsp. vanilla extract. Cook the sauce until thickened and figs are soft. Serve over the french toast sandwiches. Or if you don't want to make the sauce, heat a can of peach slices in syrup and add a bit of fresh thyme.
What about making Monte Cristo sandwiches and serving with raspberry jam to dip it in? That's almost like french toast.
Or serve the french toast with warmed applesauce instead of syrup and have a side of canadian bacon or ham instead of the normal bacon or sausage.
If you can get some fresh berries, make a compote to serve over the french toast instead of syrup.
pretty yummy
