My son's favorite meal.
Ingredients:
Cinnamon chip golden whole wheat bread from Great Harvest Bakery ( or similar bread)
Sliced into 6 1/3'; Slices
6 eggs
1 TBLS vanilla
1 TBLS vanilla bean paste
1/4 cup half %26amp; half
(Actually, we are a non-dairy family %26amp; I use silk soy creme)
Grate nutmeg into mixture (about 1/8-1/4 tsp)
Heat pan to 375 deg.
Wisk all ingredients other than the bread and let the bread soak until soggy but not until it falls apart, usually this is when I prepare Italian turkey sausage and fruit.
Add butter or margarine and cook the French toast 2 minutes in each side.
Serve French toast with red currant jelly
Yum, yumI sure could use your best french toast recipe please. Im not much of a cook but love french toast?

1/2 teaspoon vanilla,
pinch of salt,
3 tablespoons milk.
except for the bread, mix and beat other ingredients.
slice bread slices in half.

dip bread into mixture and fry both sides.
You have to use great bread. This recipe is one in progress ...
3 eggs
1/3 cup cream
1 tbs. Orange flavor (real stuff)
zest of one orange
3 tbs. juice of orange
1/2 tsp Ceylon cinnamon
1 loaf Orange Brioche, sliced
Butter
1 recipe bananas Foster (follows)
flaked coconut
powdered sugar
Heat butter in skillet. Mix the first six ingredients with a whisk. Dip both sides of the bread slices in the egg mixture. Cook the bread slices in the skillet until golden brown on both sides. Keep warm.
Prepare the bananas Foster. Heat 4 tbs. butter in skillet, add 1/3 cup brown sugar, 1 tsp. cinnamon, and 1 tbs. of dark rum. Heat until sugar dissolved. Saute 3 sliced bananas in this.
Top toast with the Bananas Foster, a sprinkle of coconut and powdered sugar. Someday I will write this out with completely tested results, but this is the working recipe. When I do that I will post it to my recipe blog.
Use thick or regular sliced bread..whichever you prefer. Beat eggs and a bit of milk, add a splash of vanilla. (I usually use 1 egg for every piece of regular sliced bread) Dip bread into egg mixture making sure not to get bread too soggy. Place in a heated, oiled or buttered skillet or on a griddle. Sprinkle with cinnamon and cook each side until browned. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with syrup.

Here's a recipe I tried from Paula Deen's show on Food Network. It was pretty tasty.
French Toast With Bananas and Walnuts
6 eggs
1/4 cup milk
4 very ripe bananas
1/4 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
1/8 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
8 slices egg bread
4 tablespoons butter
Confectioners' sugar, for dusting
Maple syrup or jam, for serving
In a large shallow bowl, using a fork, beat the eggs until lightly frothy. Stir in the milk and set aside. Peel the bananas into a small bowl and mash them with a fork. Stir in the walnuts and the nutmeg.
Spread the banana mixture over the 1/2 of the bread slices, leaving a 1/4-inch border uncovered on all edges. Top with the remaining bread slices and press down gently to seal.
Place 2 sandwiches in the egg mixture and press down gently. Turn over and let soak for a moment until evenly saturated on both sides. Repeat with the other 2 remaining sandwiches.
In a frying pan or on a griddle, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Place the sandwiches on griddle and fry until the undersides are golden brown, about 2 minutes. Add the remaining butter, flip the sandwiches with a spatula and fry until golden brown.
To serve place the toast on plates and dust with confectioners' sugar. Serve with maple syrup or jam.
I like to take cinnamon bread, or apple cinnamon bread when I can find it, and whip up some eggs like you are going to scramble them and lay the bread into the egg mix, then fry on a hot griddle... serve with whatever you like to top it off with, from syrup to cherry pie filling, with whipped creme... ( I get rave reviews with blueberry pie filling and whipped creme at our camp outs!) but you can add flavors to your eggs too, like cinnamon and or vanilla, which makes a great tasty French Toast as well...
